The vision of the Israel Academy of Equine Studies (IAES) is to be a central school concentrating on a variety of subjects and specialities connected to the world of horses and equine studies, while maintaining the highest of professional standards.

The Academy was established by Dr Dan Carmely, a highly regarded Israeli vet who specialises in the care of horses through both conventional and homeopathic treatments. He has been joined by Paul Alster, who arrived in Israel from England in 2007, bringing with him more than 20 years experience as a horse racing broadcaster and journalist, and Omer Greenbaum, creator of the "Listening to Horses" technique, that is set to revolutionise the way horses are trained and prepared in Israel.

The Israel Academy of Equine Studies (IAES) is the only academy in Israel which specializes solely and exclusively in the teaching of multi-disciplinary techniques for riding, and the teaching of horse related studies.

The IAES is based within the grounds of the renowned agricultural school at Pardess Hanna. The academy facilities contain a number of riding arenas, including one of the largest floodlit arenas in the State of Israel, an impressive stable block, an air conditioned lecture hall and a dining room for residential students.

Amongst the many options on offer at the IAES are:

Courses - A wide variety of equine courses including: Professional stable management, teacher and guide for therapeutic riding, "Olympic" riding (English - show jumping, dressage etc.), and "Western" riding, all certified by the Israel Sports Ministry.

Centre for studying the 'Listening to Horses' technique – Focusing on the rehabilitation of traumatised horses, and training based on eliminating aggressive attitudes and focusing on controlling the horse by gentle communication without reins, using a variety of exercises taken from competitive riding, Western riding and Olympic riding.

Centre for Therapeutic Riding – The success of therapeutic riding has been proven by scientific research and numerous positive experiences. The combination of enjoyment, treatment and specific movements on horseback, has been proven to be a highly successful in treating a variety of conditions. Recently, the 'Kupot Holim' (Israeli medical insurance companies) have agreed to help underwrite a significant percentage of the costs of treating children with therapeutic riding.

Academy motto
:

The love for horses and the belief that this animal has special and meaningful influence on human beings is leading our way. We respect and teach the two riding methods (Western and Olympic) and believe that both have their particular qualities.

"Violence starts where knowledge ends" is what guides the academy personnel in their teaching methods.
